Dr. Pipiet Larasatie is an Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor of Sustainable Biomaterials Marketing at Virginia Tech. She has expertise in forest products marketing and sustainable business practices. She has participated as a PI and Co-PI for multiple USDA-funded projects, including using mass timber to create a climate-resilient building and supporting environmental justice for rural and underserved communities. Her ongoing mass timber projects include workforce development, message testing, and community outreach. She is the editor of the “BioProducts Business” journal, managed by the Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST), and the coordinator of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) Research Group 5.10, focusing on forest products marketing and business management. She has also collaborated with the Softwood Export Council (SEC) and the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) for multiple trade missions around the world.
