Dr. Daniel Hindman
Dr. Daniel Hindman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech, a Principal Faculty Member in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction, and an Affiliate Faculty Member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Hindman teaches classes in Building Information Modeling, Wood Mechanics, Green Building Systems, and Timber Engineering. Dr. Hindman’s research involves the study of cross-laminated timber including the use of non-traditional species and connection design, the use of tree limbs, bamboo and other biomaterial fiber sources for construction uses, and methods to make construction safer and more efficient. Dr. Hindman serves as a technical consultant for the National Frame Building Association, where he presents post-frame engineering webinars, as well as serving on the NFBA Technical and Research Committee, the recent ANSI/APA PRG-320 revision committee, and the Mass Timber and Engineering Technical Interest Group in the Forest Products Society.
